A Chilean typography based on letters of sign painters.
Letrera is a project that was born in my university time with the aim of rescuing and unify the letters of sign painters of Talca. Mostly one of them. Obviously I’m not a typographer, but this work helped a lot to enhance my abilities to detect inconsistencies in visual language and reveal a few secrets of typography. In honor of those anonymous heroes for their exquisite and unique work.DOWNLOAD THE FONT
Album design and other pianistic pieces.
Sebastián is one of the most important pianist of the current Chilean jazz scene but his qualities goes beyond that. He suddenly showed up and within a short period of time he became a key piece and face of a renovated generation. We began set up certain guidelines to be applied in flyers, that eventually would consolidate this graphic world into his first album.
The genesis of this deck comes from my motivation to spread the Mapuche culture and try to awake interest on the history of this ethnic group that occupied plenty of the Chilean territory. I chose playing card because to get my goal I needed a popular platform and also because I liked the idea to build a character that matches with the other side of the mirror.

As a child, I was always good at breaking things just to see how they were made. In some way the visual stimulations came out and turned that curiosity into the unbounded world of creation. Some years of preparation in my boyhood gave me the understanding of colour, space, shapes, proportions and a fantastic toolbox to represent the reality and/or create one. Then I formally studied design for three years in the university, when I learned the principles of the discipline, until I realized that I had to set up a path determined by my own concerns, thus continuing my career as an autodidact. Since then, my learning has been shaped in the battlefield, exploring a vast diversity of projects within agencies and as a freelancer. However, despite this portfolio showcases mostly graphic design, I’m experienced in some others visual fields such as, photography, 3D rendering, videos and animation as well.
Don’t be shy, drop me a line!
I think that as individuals, we have the duty of improve the world around us by raising the consciousness of the society and the only way to do so is carry out bravely our labores whatever it is. Therefore, I've devoted my life to my work, facing the design problems far away from any emotions or biases in order to get the optimal results. This philosophy allows me to have an objetive perspective to collaborate with different people, disciplines and workflows.
Given my background I've developed a thorough understanding of design thanks to the specialization in three different areas:
My illustrations are characterized by the absence of lines, where the edges give life to the form throughout basic shapes with a very few well chosen colours.
Personalities are unique when their attributes have been completely explored. I represent these attributes steering the concept process toward consistent and sophisticated results.
After dropping out the university -over there in 2009-, I knew I needed in somehow to find a mighty identity which represented my work. Operación Quimera (Chimera Operation) came into my mind as a response to the exercise of sorting my stuff out. I decided to adopt the name because of the spontaneity with which emerged and because represented the nature of my creations at that time. The absence of color is due to the fact that it plays a neutral role to maintain the importance on the works. Since the first version I had the intention to take “O” and “Q” as symbolic elements given the similarities they share and exceptional qualities to be reflected. Being my own brand, it has been mutating slightly over the years and after having settled to Berlin I developed this final version, shortening the name to “oqgraphic”.
